Government Primary School Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2023
The first phase of recruitment for assistant teachers in government-run primary schools is scheduled for November 24th. During this phase, candidates from the Barisal, Sylhet, and Rangpur divisions will undergo the examination. This announcement was made by Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, during an evening press release.
To provide some context, earlier this year, on February 28th, recruitment advertisements were circulated for the first phase of primary teacher recruitment in the Rangpur, Barisal, and Sylhet divisions. Subsequently, in the second phase on March 23rd, recruitment notifications were issued for the Mymensingh, Khulna, and Rajshahi divisions by the Primary Education Department. The third phase followed with recruitment announcements on June 18th, targeting the Dhaka and Chittagong divisions.
This time, the recruitment process is organized into distinct phases, with recruitment notifications being released in three separate stages. These phases will be conducted as separate examinations. The recruitment process experienced delays due to financial complications following the release of recruitment notifications. However, it has now been officially announced after the resolution of these financial issues, according to the relevant authorities.
According to the Primary Education Department, a substantial number of candidates have applied for these positions. Among the approved vacant positions, Dhaka division has the highest count at 1,365, while Sylhet division has the lowest with 411 vacancies. Barisal has 871 vacancies, Rangpur 988, Khulna 940, Mymensingh 599, Rajshahi 1,058, and Chittagong 1,231. It’s worth noting that the number of vacancies may increase as the recruitment process advances, including positions left open due to retiring teachers.

In the most recent round of recruitment for assistant teachers in government primary schools, a notification was issued on October 20, 2020, to fill 32,577 vacant positions. This recruitment process was finalized in January of the following year, with 37,574 candidates being selected. Nevertheless, 2,557 of the selected candidates did not take up the positions, resulting in these roles becoming vacant once more.
